Cats is a story based on this video:
The story revolves around a small group of strays who are trapped on a middle section between two highways. There are three adult cats, one of them was declawed and left there by his original owners to die.
The other two cats do not recall their origins, but between them they had a litter of kittens.
They live as a strange little family, eating small rodents and insects that live on the island.
The story is told from their perspective.
Each day, the declawed cat goes to a ledge at the edge of the island and watches the cars go by, which to them appear as giant speedy whales.
Against their parent’s wishes, the kittens also sit out there with him as he meditates on a life outside of the island that no one seems to believe.
“Yes, the beings brought me food! And I didn’t have to hunt. And the grass was white and never grew tall. Insects were rare. The beings took care of everything…”

To them, it seemed like an alien abduction story. But what else could explain his mysterious appearance and clawlessness?
One day, a kitten falls off the ledge, and the declawed cat goes to save him. They are both hit by a car, but another car comes later on to save them and domesticate them.
After they are healed, they continue to be cared for by the family who saved them, but the kitten is eternally depressed. He misses his parents and siblings, and even this new paradise does nothing to ease the pain he feels in missing them.
So the declawed cat swallows his pride and they make an escape. They travel across towns using their instinct to guide them, hoping to get back home.
